We are sitting around our living room. Images of our wedding playing on our tv. For Christmas Rob’s parents had our wedding video copied to DVD. (yes, we were married in the VHS era). Our six-year-old son keeps asking when he will appear. Finally sighing and saying “I wish I could jump right into the movie.”
One of the songs from our wedding ceremony lingers in my mind later that night. “Come thy fount of every blessing. Tune my heart to sing Thy grace.”
Tune my heart. Somedays it is out of tune. Distractions. Noise. Worry. They all crowd out the tune of grace.
I keep humming it for a few days. Then this morning in church, what song do we sing? Yep!
“Streams of mercy, never-ceasing.”
Streams of mercy. Flooding. Flowing. Never ceasing. Never ending. Never.
“Call for songs of loudest praise.”
Remembering the blessings. Leading to gratitude and praise.
Words written over 250 years ago call out to my soul.
I wonder what steps do I take tomorrow to tune my heart to sing His grace?
And as I tune it, will I accept his overflowing gift of streams of mercy?

One of my favorite hymns! My favorite verse is “Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee.”
That is one of my favorite hymns! Thank you for expounding on it so well, here!
