On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:12-13
Mercy, not sacrifice. Mercy not sacrifice.
These words keep ringing in my ears. In the Message it says “I’m after mercy, not religion.”
What did Jesus mean then? What does his words mean to me today?
How does mercy connect to the sick, the sinners?
How does sacrifice correlate with the healthy and the righteous?
What does Jesus desire for mercy, not sacrifice look like in your life today?
Seems like I have more questions than statements this Sunday afternoon.
Mercy, not sacrifice. Go and learn what this means.
