Tonight Sam has to bring leaves to Cub Scouts. We joked “I wonder where we could find some.” You see, our yard has lots of leaves. Lots of them. We would win a contest for most leaves, I’m sure.
In looking at our yard, a verse pops in my head:
“The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
a warrior who gives victory;
he will rejoice over you with gladness,
he will renew you in his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing”
Zephaniah 3:17
He rejoices over us.
He will sing over me. He will sing over you.
He sees us. A leaf covered back yard. He doesn’t chastise us that the yard isn’t raked. He looks at the glory, of red and golden and fall making its mark. He looks at the glory of his children enjoying his generosity.
He delights in us.
He delights in you.
He delights in you.
No matter what you feel. He delights in you. From beginning to end.
