“But you O Lord are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger
abounding in love and faithfulness.
Grant your strength to your servant.”
Psalm 86:15, 16b
I had some moments today that could be described as “removed, ungracious, quick to be frustrated, restrictive in love and faithfulness.”
And when the rest of the house had some quiet time, I snuck outside for some of my own. Only a few minutes on the patio and some ‘random’ flipping, I landed on this verse.
Gratitude that my shortcomings do not change the attributes of God.
Grateful that in this journey of parenting, I don’t have to do this on my own.
His strength.
His characteristics are abounding.
He shares his abounding resources with me.
Even when it is a quick “Help! Grant your strength to your servant.” Called out from a backyard. Sandwiched in between the events of the day.
He shares. He trades my failing strength for his unending strength.
Best news I’ve heard all week.

Best news EVER 🙂
EVER- yes.
Love you

This week, I’ve been tempted to lose my confidence in “everything will be alright”. I’ve been tempted to take back the anxiety of thinking there is something I must take control of. As my husband and I escalated in our fears and frustration… I remembered… we don’t have to worry or plan or make it alright. Just be obedient, make wise choices, walk one step at a time and let his strength provide for us. And whatever he provides – we’ll be fine.
Especially when “everything will be alright” sure doesn’t seem to be evident.
Daily. Needing him daily.
For me there has been nothing like being a parent to make me realize how daily the journey is.
Thanks for your words Amy.

I can so relate. And am so thankful for the trade!
Thankful for the trade too.
Need to take him up on it more often 🙂
Missed you this summer!
