Dive

Early on, I stayed at the surface.

Plenty of pretty things to see here. Snorkeling level of my faith. Content. Close enough to come up for breath and avoid danger.

Years pass. The invitation keeps repeating. Dive deeper. Deeper still.

There is beauty and marvels not many eyes have seen. Will I let go? Beyond comfort. Fully submerged in the secret life.

I go. Leaving homelands. Loosening my grasp of air. Trusting as the horizon shrinks.

And it’s true. The beauty that is. Of rare sights and colorful paintings. A soul diving deeper. Trying to understand it’s own life and of the one who made it.

I’ve heard there’s more. If you keep diving deeper. A place I wonder if light could even reach. If warmth could ever soothe it.

But He assures me. His light can reach it. Showing me what is ahead. In the darkest places. Enough to see He is with me. His hand embraces mine. Enough warmth for the journey.

Diving deeper. Even in my fear, it is where I want to go.
