For hours this Thanksgiving afternoon, we sat at our dining room table. The “one of my first purchases out of college” table. From This End Up. Makers of furniture sturdy and indestructible. It’s 25 years proudly show. Each scratch remembering stories. Each dent a reminder of the life we have lived.
Thank you for our old dining room table with thick wood, sturdy enough to endure the movement of our life.
Thank you for the chairs around it that cradle love.
Thank you for the faces that come to mind as I remember shared meals around it.
Thank you for the laughter it has heard. Thank you for the tears it has seen spilled.
Thank you for the hospitality it has offered.
Thank you for the chairs that have been recovered, offering new life.
Thank you for the thread of remembrance it weaves in my life.
Remembrance of what is true. Of what lasts. Of relationships begun. Of old worn friendships.
Remembrance rising up to gratitude. Overflowing for what has been. Of what will be.
Thank you for the meal that will one day be shared. At an even more meaningful table.

Oh so beautiful!! Love this post!
This End Up!!! I have a wall candle holder from there that hangs I my wall. I love this. So much of my furniture holds the history of my life, too!! Thankful to have you as a friend in this space and to have had the joy of meeting. 🙂
I LOVE the picture! And your words too – so full of the joy of feasting and how it points to the feast to come. Thank you for this. Xx

And how I thank our Pappa for seating us around His table of joy, where He feeds us the dainty morsels of His love. Those kiddos are deliciously beautiful.
Much love to you
Mia
As usual, beautifully poetic:))
Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes! I love that the remembering brings gratitude. Such a wonderful reminder of all the gratefulness that can be reaped from some “thing” such as a table. Thankful for your writing!
